Nassau County Vehicle Forfeiture
This site is somewhat unique in that it is here to address one limited issue only, the forfeit (loss) of the vehicle you were operating at the time of your arrest, following an arrest for Driving While Intoxicated or Driving With Ability Impaired by alcohol or drugs in Nassau County, New York.

As a criminal defense firm representing a multitude of clients who have been charged with Driving Wile Intoxicated or Driving While Impaired by Alcohol or Drugs we found ourselves confronted by the fact that the resolution of our clients' criminal  matters was not really the end of their problem. Forfeiting a vehicle frequently had a greater consequence than the penalties set forth in the Penal Law.

Approximately four months after our clients' arrest they would be served in a civil action in which the County sought to take the car they were driving regardless of the facts and in spite of what we believed to be case law prohibiting their actions. Repeated discussions with the County Attorney's office failed to produce a modification of their approach to vehicle forfeiture and we were left with no choice but to challenge their actions in Court to prevent the seizure of vehicles under circumstance where existing law clearly prohibited such action. We were successful in our very first matter and the decision was of sufficient importance that it was published in the New York Law Journal, the most widely read legal publication in New York. We have continued to represent parties whose vehicles are the subject of forfeiture actions and we continue to offer free consultations for the purpose of determining whether we can prevent the seizure of the vehicle in your case as well.
